We would like to thank all of our family and friends for sharing in this happiness with us. Your expressions of support and joy during this exciting time in our lives means so much!
Although we've opted to "run away together" and have an intimate wedding ceremony in Jamaica, we know you'll all be cheering us on and sending lots of love our way as we start this new life as Mr. & Mrs. Walters.
When we return, we will have a reception and would love to see all your faces there. Expect it to be laid back, informal, and FUN!

Ty was visiting Kara in Jenkins on the July 4th holiday weekend. When Kara got home from work on July 3rd, she looked at the forecast and told Ty their planned hike to Bad Branch Falls may not be able to happen the next day because of the thunderstorms moving in. Ty's response was "Let's go tonight!" Obviously perplexed, Kara said, "But...it's raining, Ty." They eventually agreed to go on their hike despite the fact it was already 6:30 p.m., the trail was a 30 minute drive away, and it was raining.
They loaded up some water, a gun, flashlights, and Max, and took off in the truck. You could almost take the term "take off" literally, since Ty was keeping it at 80 mph the entire way there. He kept saying "I just want to get there", any time Kara would ask why he was driving so fast. When they finally arrived, Ty told Kara to go sign them into the hiker logbook at the entrance of the trail. She stood there and waited...and waited...and waited...until he finally got situated and had everything gathered up and ready to go.
As soon as his foot hit the trail, he was powerwalking the entire way to the falls. He walked in front with Max to keep an eye out for snakes, and it was all Kara could do to keep up with the two of them. By the time they made it to Bad Branch Falls, she was sweaty, rain soaked, and out of breath. Ty said, "Go up there on that rock next to the falls and check out the view!" She walked up to a higher spot by herself, looked around for a bit and came back down. Ty started telling Kara how much he loved her and couldn't wait to spend his life with her, which didn't strike her as unusual. She nodded and smiled and agreed. Ty laughed and asked Kara if she had noticed Max's new leather collar. She hadn't, so she bent down to look at it and kept telling him how nice it was. When she raised back up, Ty was on one knee and said, "You need to look closer." Kara bent back down, turned the collar around, and saw an engraving on the collar that said "Will You Marry Me?" When she looked back over at Ty, he was holding a beautiful diamond ring. It finally registered with Kara that Ty was proposing and she immediately clasped her hands over her mouth. Obviously, a few seconds later she managed to say "Yes!"
On the way back out of the mountain, Ty told Kara all about his visit with her dad earlier that day and how eager he had been to give his blessing, how he had picked out the ring himself with the help of his mom, and the fact that he'd bought it on his birthday but hadn't told anyone. Max may not have known exactly what was happening, but he knew it was something very, very good, and he smiled at Kara from the backseat of the truck the entire way home. |
We will be traveling to the Couples Swept Away resort in Negril, Jamaica for our wedding and staying there for our honeymoon.
Our wedding will be simple, but romantic. There are several wedding locations on the resort and we most likely won't choose one until we arrive and take a good look at everything. After the wedding and subsequent paperwork hitching us together for good, we'll walk upstairs in a main resort building for a private reception where we'll have a small wedding cake and champagne toast.
Later that evening, we'll have a romantic, private, candlelit dinner on the beach where we'll have our own waiter, sparkling wine, and tiki torches for light so Ty can tell me repeatedly how much he loves my wedding dress. ;-) |
