Marc attended New England College where he played on the soccer team with a starting position on defense. He had plenty of friends with his head on a good pair of shoulders. Marc enlisted into the Army National Guard on December 7, 2010 where he left for basic training on February 7, 2011. Marc and Deanne were dating for exactly 7 months when they said their goodbyes. For 10 weeks Marc endured obstacles that he never thought he would ever face. Not only were they physically demanding, but emotionally draining from the pain of being away from Deanne and his family whom he is very close to. Letters he sent and received from Deanne and his family are what kept him going. On April 20, 2011 (Marc's 20th birthday), was family day where he saw Deanne, his mother Gale, and his cousin Adam for the first time in 10 weeks in Fort Jackson, SC. He had gotten taller, wiser, tanner, and more serious then when he left. He changed; but only good changes. On April 21, 2011, Marc graduated basic training from Fort Jackson where he would go onto his next training in Fort Leonardwood, MO for 88M training, or in civilian terms, truck driving. 7 weeks of training where he could use his phone almost everyday and learned his skill for the military. He met many great friends along with tons of others who were going through the same thing as him. On June 10, 2011, Marc graduated AIT. Deanne, his mother, sister (Michelle), and Deanne's father (Gerald) were there to bring him home and see him graduate. |
